The Saturday market was absolutely fantastic. The sun was out.... and so was I. I started my day at 6 a.m with a run in the park. Then it was time to go home, clean up, and get ready for the market. No matter how often I go there , I always get excited about the Saturday market. I love to check out all the farmers stands and load my basket with fresh organic produce. Every time, it brings back childhood memories of my Grandfather back home, who was an organic farmer. You see, I am a very lucky person who was once blessed for having a great Grandfather. My summers were spent farming. It was a lot of hard work, but it was all so gratifying. To this day, I hold the utmost respect for my local farmers. I know that the work that they do is a labor of love. I admire their never ending hard work, dedication and mission statement. I also know, that at times, their work bares great resemblance to a game of "Russian roulette", when bad weather ruins what could have been otherwise a good crop. Those times can easily bring a great deal of financial stress and put them out of business for a season. For that reason, I make a diligent effort to support my local farmers. I go to the market weekly and purchase as much as I can possibly eat in one week. Last weekend was no exception. One of my favorite stands is "Lost Creek Farms.". Please check them out at: www.lostcreekfarmorganics.com The produce sold at this particular stand is absolutely gorgeous. I love to cook food from scratch, and I love some good eating as well. Among other things, they had the most beautiful tomatoes. I could not wait to go home for a sample. I sunk my teeth in a tomato. It was my idea of a perfect snack. And THAT it was!. Wherever you may be, if you haven't already done so, please re-think the way you eat. The journey of life is about running in the park and spending as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors. If one eats healthy, one will stay healthy and get to play. Let's add this to your daily to do list: Eat organic, exercise daily, love plenty, laugh daily and drink LOTS of water. To your health!. Gros bisous. Moi
